Many times, when doing motor swaps with vehicles that use external regulators it's a pain to source or reuse the older lower voltage and let's just be honest, less reliable external boxes.  We take the guess work out of all of that and use the same GM 4pin style regulator instead of the standard build part number terminal block regulator.  This allows the alternator to be turned on and off with a simple single wire connected to a 12v key on\/off source from the vehicle.
